Yes you heard me right. I want to give you my top 5 reasons why I believe we should all go on a streak in August. Now I'm not sure what thoughts come to your mind when you think of a streak... you could be imagining some college kids streaking nakedly through campus...
or if you grew up in my era and enjoyed the comedian Ray Stevens this song could be ringing through your mind. My family and I would laugh until we cried watching his videos. If you want to see this "streak" and have a good laugh watch this video.
But I'm not asking you to take your clothes off... or recollect streakers you've seen or streaks you may have participated in!
The streak I am referring to is a streak of constant action.. which in turn leads to constant success. We call it a "streak" when our favorite ball team wins X amount of games in a row.
Merriam - Webster define the streak as:
1streak noun \ˈstrēk\: a long, thin mark that is a different color from its background
: a quality that is noticeable especially because it is different from a person's other qualities
: a period of repeated success or failure
So why go on a streak???
Because just like this image say's "YOU TOO CAN OWN THIS FACE OF PURE ACCOMPLISHMENT!"
Whether your goal is to grow your business, create a new one, get stronger, loose weight, gain weight, run faster, run further, write a book, finish school, go to the Olympics, start a blog, travel the world, learn to meditate, etc etc... it all must contain...
As we go about our day today being the last day of the month it's the perfect time to reflect and think about the things you want most in your life and mark them as a priority and throughout all of August let's go on a streak together by creating daily action towards those goals.
Imagine what you can accomplish in a month by taking constant action towards it??
My top 5 reasons to go on a streak for the next 30 days!
I am a huge advocate for the power of the mind and the vibrations our bodies give and receive. I believe in the Law of Attraction. I believe that if you want something you need to put your body, mind, and soul into it and take action DAILY to make it become a reality. This is what I have learned from taking action and going on streaks towards my goals
Once you begin your streak you will learn consistency. This is a key that can unlock your road blocks to success. For example.. I am a writer.. if I am not consistent in my daily routine with writing than I do not produce work and therefore I am not moving towards getting that work published. So I have a page count I have set for myself and daily I work to create and complete my stories.
Athletes must train daily and be consistent or they will not become their best and perform to their expectations and goals. Can you imagine what an Olympic athlete does day in and day out? It's consistency that helps them excel.
I believe this quote. What are you dedicated to? By taking this challenge and going on a streak you will learn dedication and will appreciate the goal even more because you took time daily to see if come to life... you will be dedicated and stick to it. Maybe a goal in your streak is to strengthen your relationships. That's fantastic! Be dedicated and show your loved ones how much you care and adore them. Dedication is essential to your success.
Growth / Awareness
By going on a streak you will change. You will grow. You will gain a deeper awareness of who you are and what life means to you. Because of this streak you will feel empowered and proud of yourself. You will believe in yourself. Who wouldn't want to feel better and become stronger mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally?
If you take consistent daily action and go on this streak you will get closer and closer to achieving your goals. It may not be to become an Olympian but what about feeling healthier through changing eating habits, moderation and adding exercise? I do believe that if you commit to going on this streak with me for 30 days you will smile and feel accomplished just like Lolo Jones in this picture above!
Many people I know are perpetually longing for more in their life or work. Sadly, they struggle to be happy or fulfilled because they are consistently focused on wishing for “more,” anticipating “what’s next” and the “if onlys” in their life. Just a few of the complaints and wishes I hear on a regular basis are:
Do any of them sound like you?
Instead of longing for things that are out of your control, turn longing into action by committing to go on this streak for those things that are in your control.
Albert Einstein once said:
”If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on it I would use the first 55 minutes to formulate the right question because as soon as I have identified the right question I can solve the problem in less than five minutes”
Quite honestly, longing without action is a problem. You’ll forever be stuck wanting and never feel fulfilled.
The good news is that we can all take a lesson from Einstein. Problems, when partnered with the right question, lead to inspired action.
By going on a streak you will begin to settle down from the fast pace of life and embrace fulfillment and peace because you will recognize the power in consistent action and see the results you are producing.
You will feel fulfilled.
What makes you most fulfilled and what do you want to be held accountable for over the next 30 days?
Today (don’t wait for tomorrow, next week or next month) tell five people today what you want to accomplish over the next 30 days on your streak. Don’t forget to drop the “I wish” and “I want” language.
Phrase your goal in terms of what you WILL do, not just WANT to do. Choose people that will ask you “Did you do it?” The surest path to a more fulfilling life and reaching your goals is to step, one foot in front of the other. You just need to be really clear on what your goals are, be brave, and make them happen.
The time is NOW. Take a chance. Go out on a limb. Stand out. Step up. However you want to say it just stop waiting for something to fall into your lap – take action to move towards your goals!!
Take time today to reflect on your life and what things you would like to do that would greatly benefit from going on a streak. Write them down.. post them so you can see them through the day and jump in tomorrow starting your 30 day streak.

Here's my Streak List for August!

1. Write a minimum of 5 pages a day
2. Write one poem a day
3. Run 5km everyday
4. Strengthen the relationships with my loved ones by choosing one to reach out to daily through a phone call, letter, email, card or poem
5. Blog everyday this month, update you on my streaking progress and chat with you about yours.
6. Follow and complete my daily "Love to do" list (I will share it with you throughout the month)
