why ME time???
I've always been an advocate for personal growth. I never believe learning stops and continue to consume books as fast as I can on a daily basis. I have learned to combine my running with reading so when I wake in the mornings I am actually looking more forward to continuing my current audio book rather than pounding the pavement. BUT today I want to reinforce why it's SOOOO important to take time for yourself daily.
Obviously when we are energized we feel our best, we are on purpose, driven and enthusiastically chasing our goals. I have been really happy lately watching lots of my Mom friends on FaceBook taking time for themselves.... and what's even more interesting is seeing the mixed comments that a "ME TIME" post generates. I am happy to see the 50% of commentators offering positive support of the much needed and deserved time but discouraged by the negative comments which we all know are from people who are jealous because they are wanting "ME TIME" and not taking it.
You've got to know that even though I preach non stop to you about taking time for yourself I also struggle very very often getting myself out the door to do my "DAILY DOSE OF POWER"/ "ME TIME." Being a mom, wife, business owner, friend, daughter, sister and so much more can be demanding as well as it is so rewarding. But the benefits of taking time for yourself daily will reap you so much more than the time you are giving yourself. In my book "The Five Keys to Becoming an Unstoppable Warrior Mom" I dedicated an entire chapter to the benefits and also ideas to frame "Me Time."
This morning I enjoyed a long walk, yoga and meditation and then jumped right into my day energized yet peaceful and ready to make this Sunday count.
So today I challenge you to think about what you need to do to get your "Daily Dose of Power" / "Me Time" ....
1. What time of day is best for you? I recommend the mornings just because it's usually easier to get up and out the door with out the distractions that come as the day begins... and it kick starts your mental sharpness and energy.
2. What's stopping you from taking "ME TIME?".... face your fears or life obligations head on and know that in order for you to become your best and help others you must first take the best care of yourself.
