"Mindfulness: Being aware of what you are doing, experiencing and feeling in the moment. "(psyccentral.com)
The feeling that time is passing at lightning speed before us is something I bet we can all relate to. Catching up over the weekend with friends and family it was a common topic of discussion. "Wow how fast this year is moving..." " Can you believe we are already in March?"
I can agree time moves quickly... but does it really? What's consuming our lives that makes it feel like it's moving so fast and that we aren't doing what we desire? Or getting where we want to go? Or truly living? I hear over and over again that "Soon I hope to have everything organized and finally where I want it to be so that I can just enjoy life"
How about just pause for a moment in what feels like madness and become mindful of what's around you.. the beauty in your life.. every thing you have to be grateful for???
Being mindful does seem to be the latest trend in healthy living... and I can see why! It does change your life.
Mindfullness has changes my life.. and therefore I am a huge advocate for the practice of mindful living.
The sense that time passes quickly and feeling the urgency of time has been something that has recently deepened my normal practice of mindful living. My grandma is suffering from dementia, this time last year she was healthy and of sound mind. Reading, taking care of her home and beloved dog, cotton... but over the last several months things changed... and changed rapidly. Watching this and seeing the impact is has had on my entire family is sad.
Time is sacred. Moments can and do pass quickly but living mindfully in them.. in the present we can capture their essence and beauty.
Rather than repeat what's out there, here are some resources I've found to be great reads to deepen your knowledge and understanding of living mindfully!

I hope you can find peace in your busy life to settle and become more mindful. The benefits are positively life changing!
After careful thought and weighing the best decision I've decided I will continue to blog even though it's been very inconsistent over the last several months. The reason why... I've been putting in hours of writing every day in the books I am working on... not sure what to write about when I sit here at this blog and I just don't feel it is my calling to be an awesome blogger... trust me I know and follow some seriously awesome blogs that are not only beautiful to the eye with the layouts, photos and creativity but the content is research driven, helpful and intriguing.
With that being said I've decided my "blog" or what ever name we shall decide to call it will be a place for me to just simply keep you up to date about all that's happening in my wild wonderful world of writing, speaking, traveling and most importantly being mom! In addition to the updates I want to share with you the wisdom.. insight and cool finds I am reading on other blogs. There's no need to reinvent the wheel and I love being able to share helpful resources that I am using and enjoying!! Whew..... soooo long story short... my "blog"... aka life update page is back up and running and I look forward to connecting with you along this exciting journey we call LIFE!!
So what's new in your world? What has been consuming your attention since my last post... wow that was ages ago... Thanksgiving as a matter of fact!
Here we are already at the beginning of the month that centers around love.... or does it? LOL... Yes I am laughing out loud because it's funny to me that some holidays can be blown so far out of proportion when it really just seems like a marketing approach to sell you more cards, chocolate and flowers...
Love is something we should be radiating daily. Sharing it with everyone we come in contact with... Love is the smile we have on our face, the gratitude we express, the carefully chosen words we chose to exchange... and so much more!
I am beyond grateful for the love in my life... the relationships I have with supportive people... my family.. and my baby... ok Micha prefers I not call him that anymore since he is now five and a big boy!! :)
Love is all around us, and it's ours for the taking, for the pleasure and enjoyment.. it's just a matter of choice whether or not we chose to breath it in and be it...
So what does love mean to you?
Here's an update of what I am currently doing!!!
And the most exciting news is...
I am pregnant with my second baby!!! YAY..... As of today I'm 22 weeks along and expecting to hold my next little bundle of joy in early June!!!
I'm excited about being back in the blog and have lots to catch you up on in the next few posts.. This past year with all of my travels speaking I made some wonderful friends and seen some breath taking places!! I look forward to getting my current projects published...having the baby and getting back on the road by the end of the year to speak at your event with fresh new topics and sharing with you the new books I'm writing!
Sending you lots of love from sunny yet bitterly cold Czech Republic!
Happy Thanksgiving friends, family and loved ones! I love this time of year as the weather begins to really cool off, my kitchen is full off baking... ok well actually I'm always baking.but even more so now... Friends and family are planning trips to spend time together, and the holiday's just seem to put most in a better mood!
This morning is like every morning in my house. I've made my cup of coffee, meditated, practiced some yoga and am sitting at my pc to dive into my books and work on my stories or bring to life a new poem. It's thanksgiving but I've never made it a big deal or felt the need to go all out when I'm here in Czech during this holiday.
However I have loved seeing all the post and pictures from you guys on Facebook sharing recipes and your Thanksgiving plans. There are some dishes I absolutely love on Thanksgiving and those I decided to cook and eat today while thinking of you all gathering around large tables piled high with food, love and laughter. So homemade yeast rolls, eggplant and sweet potato casserole it will be for my house today!!!
I have spent more time acknowledging the things in my life I am grateful for this year more than ever. When I wake up each morning I stay in bed and think of all the things I am grateful for in about 5 minutes before getting up and starting my day. Doing this really hlps me start with a centered, positive and appreciative outlook on my day and life. I am aware I live a very different life than the norm and am so thankful I am where I am and live true to myself and have the opportunities I have to create and be a stay at home mom.
Whether or not we are agreement of the real meaning of Thanksgiving, I choose to use this holiday as a celebration of life... of gratitude and love. I have begun teaching Micha the value of gratitude and in our house we will celebrate Thanksgiving as a day to do just that... give thanks!
I am so grateful to be connected to you all through email and social media. I love to see the "crazy" things you are doing and improving in your communities! Thank you for being a part of an incredible year at Joanna International. I wore out my luggage traveling to speak to you this year, made beautiful friendships across two continents and beyond, have memories to last a lifetime, grew tremendously during the journey and couldn't be more thankful for where I am right now in life.
I wish you the very best Thanksgiving... full of gratitude... lots of delicious food... loved ones and fun!
Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours,
Hello Friends and Family! It's been a bit since I've written a blog and that is mainly due to spending my free time outside enjoying the beauty of Fall. This is my favorite season for many reasons. The colors. The crisp smell in the air. The beautiful leaves falling from the tress. Pies. Apple cider. Pumpkins and hot creamy soups!
I am back in Europe and glad to be where I feel home. This time last year I left for the United States with my family to go on an extended speaking tour around the US. The tour went great. I met so many wonderful people from the east coast all the way to Alaska. My life is richer for the friends I made and it was truly a pleasure sharing my heart and passion inspiring others through my messages.
Reflecting on this past year has been fulfilling. I also crossed a milestone with stepping out of my 20's and am just beginning my 30th year. Life is great and I am truly blessed. As you know I am always busy working on something and what lies ahead for me is ALOT of writing. I am beginning the second book accompanying my "Five Key's to Becoming a Warrior Mom", a series of short stories written specifically for teen girls with the sole intent of inspiring the next generation, a few romance novels (I love to read and write good romances), and poems!
Winter will soon be here and as much as I would love to take up crochet, I will instead be burning away on my laptop composing new stories and writing poetic pieces.
The holiday's are also just around the corner and I can feel the energy of people beginning to tense and stressed about all the shopping, parties and spending... here's a thought to reflect on... What if this year you did something different?
What if you chose to give a handmade gift that came from your heart with love and creativity instead of buying something/or lots of things for others that cost ALOT and are forgot about shortly after the festivities end...
What if you choose to not let the holiday's become something dreaded but rather embraced whole heartily and enjoyed... taking time to meditate and give gratitude for all you are thankful for?
Wishing you a beautiful day and with the weather cooling off and Fall fading into winter I'll be back here writing more with you!
Lots of Love,
Streakers as you can see I feel short of following my streak of blogging daily. The last day of our streak I flew to Malaga Spain to work on a new novel on site! The trip was beautiful... inspiring and the framework for my new story currently titled "Annie" is well underway. But before I get into the many thoughts running through my head I wanted to congratulate all of you for sticking with me to to set new goals and create fresh habits in our lives over the month of August.
Don't you agree our lives can become so consumed with all we do that adding new things can be difficult and even draining. I can't stress enough the importance of taking time to "be still" and listen to your inner voice. Over working yourself and staying busy doesn't make you more productive, or superior to others... in fact we should not compare ourselves to others as we are all uniquely gifted and the more we focus on enjoying each day and living authentic the more at peace we will become and the more you will do what matters and not stress over things that would normally run you into the ground and have sleepless nights.
I have no doubt tried many things in my life... if I could count all of the different ideas I've had, jobs I've applied for, jobs I've worked and directions I've gone in I would probably astonish you. I do not however regret the journey. My journey has lead me to where I am today and for that I am beyond grateful. I've never experienced the kind of peace I now have.. the absolute knowledge of my life path and my passion growing daily for writing and of course creating.. my love for working with my life coaching clients has developed into a beautiful relationship and watching them (you) blossom and find their life path is encouraging and makes me happy.
So how was the streak for you? Would you do it again? What would you change? What did you learn about yourself?
As you begin the count down of this year go easy on yourself... take time to "be still" find your unique talent and put a laser focus on it. The contentment you will gain and the peace of stepping into your authentic life will push away the stress and mess that consumes so many living the "normal" life. A speech I have given many times to audiences throughout the US and Europe encourages you to live CRAZY... I will write more about this in my next blog but before I end let me break down living CRAZY..
C - Creative
R - Resources
A - Assertive
Z - Zeal
Y - You
So stay tuned for more talk of living CRAZY and for today celebrate your victories! Here's a short followup clip from an event I led in Fairbanks Alaska back in April.
Lots of Love,
“Never, never, never, never give up.”
20 Ways to Sustain Motivation When You’re Struggling
The second half of motivation is to keep yourself going when you don’t feel the same excitement as you did in the beginning. Perhaps something new has come into your life and your old goal isn’t as much of a priority anymore. Perhaps you skipped a day or two and now you can’t get back into it. Perhaps you screwed up and got discouraged.
If you can get yourself excited again, and keep going, you’ll get there eventually. But if you give up, you won’t. It’s your choice — accomplish the goal, or quit. Here’s how you can stop from quitting, and get to your goal:
“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”
One of the biggest challenges in meeting any goal, whether it be related to productivity, waking early, changing a habit, exercising, or just becoming happier, is finding the motivation to stick with it.
We've reached day 27 in our month long streaking goal and I congratulate you for coming so far!
If you can stick with a goal for long enough, you’ll almost always get there eventually. It just takes patience, and motivation.
Motivation is the key, but it’s not always easy, day in and day out, to find that motivation.
What follows is a guide to motivation using what I’ve learned over the last few years in a series of successful accomplishments, goals and habit changes. I’ve had many failures, but also many successes, and I’ve learned a lot from all of them. Motivation has been a particularly important topic of exploration for me.
What Motivation Can Achieve
What have I accomplished using these motivation methods? Too much to mention, just in the last 3 years: running further and faster than I used to dream possible, learning to become an early riser, building my body through strength training, moving abroad and having homes in two countries (Romania and Czech), becoming a writer, becoming more productive, starting a successful international company and traveling across the United States and Europe speaking, writing and publishing a book, becoming organized, simplifying my life, graduating with my masters degree, and much more.
That’s not intended to sound like bragging, but to show you what can be accomplished (just to start) if you find the right motivation.
How Does Motivation Work?
Before we get into specific methods, it’s useful to examine what motivation is, what it does, and how it works.
Motivation is what drives you toward a goal, what keeps you going when things get tough, the reason you get up early to exercise or work late to finish a project. There are all kinds of motivations, of course, from positive to negative. Having a boss threaten to fire you is motivation — you’ll likely work harder to complete a project with that kind of pressure. But I find that positive motivation works better — if it’s something you really want to do, you’ll do a much better job than to avoid something you don’t want (such as being fired).
So motivation, in its best form, is a way for you to want to do something. There may be times, for example, when you don’t feel like getting up early, and in those times you may seriously just want to sleep in (not that there’s anything wrong with that). But if you have a reason to want to get up early, something you really really want to do, you’ll jump up out of bed with excitement.
The best motivation, then, is a way for you to really want something, to get excited about it, to be passionate about it. Remember that, as there are many other types of motivation (especially negative), but in my experience, this is the kind that works the best.
There is only so long that you can go trying to motivate yourself to do something you don’t like to do, something you don’t want to do. But if you find ways to really want to do something, you can sustain your effort for much, much longer.
What motivates YOU??
Peace and Love,
A credo is a set of beliefs that drives thoughts and behaviors.
The significance of a personal credo is that one is free to survey various other credos and take ideas from those and also to add your own original thoughts.
So my challenge for you today is to go out and google examples of life credos and begin creating your own!!
Have fun creating this as you begin to define with certainty who you are and what you want from life.
Keep being YOU!!

We are on our final stretch for this month long streak we have been on. I can tell you I feel so much better than I did 25 days ago.. Mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually!!
I am thankful for you joining me on this streak and hope that you have seen the dramatic difference daily action can make in your life. If you go away from this streak learning only one thing I hope you realize the significant impact of consistency.
Wishing you an awesome day fulfilling your goals!
Here are some pictures of Micha and I's walk through Lednice park today!
Micha thought this was sooooooo funny....
In a recent blog comment I was asked for advice on how to overcome fear of failure.
Fear of failure can deter people from taking action yet if you never try anything you'll never achieve anything.
In fact, falling on your face can be a good way to learn valuable lessons. Successful entrepreneurs, for example, realize the importance of failing as quickly as possible when launching a new venture because the faster you find bugs and problems, the quicker you can get rid of them.
Trust me I've been here many times and have experienced failure with many ventures and ideas.
Failing isn't easy or fun, but you can't let it dictate how you live your life.
I learned this several years ago when I went back to school, elbowing up to young fresh-faced college student after taking a couple year break.. On some levels this endeavor--which felt daunting at the time--was a challenging task. Yet, looking back I'm now proud of my hard work and how I mastered tough subjects like math and science. Once graduating I started my company and tried many business ideas both in the US and abroad...
My experiences then also prompted me to aggressively pursue a writing career, which is where I am meant to be anyway.
If not for starting, failing, working hard, overcoming, starting over, moving on I wouldn't be where I am today and where I am today is a good place.
So face your fears head on and push forward towards your dreams.
What two action steps have you been putting off out of fear that if you do tomorrow could dramatically change the outcome of your week and progress towards your goals??
Have a beautiful rest of your day!!
lots of love
